About

Welcome to Skydiving!

Skydiving is the the sport of jumping from an aircraft and performing acrobatic manoeuvres in the air under free fall before landing by parachute. Otherwise known as "This isn't flying, this is falling with style!".

Queens Skydiving Club has been around for many years and we regularly jump every Saturday and Sunday at the only dropzone in Northern Ireland, the Wild Geese Skydiving Centre. We offer discounted training and ticket prices to all students of Queens University Belfast, with associate membership to students from other Universities.

Solo skydiving

We follow the British Parachute Association (BPA) training method known as Ram Air Parachute System (RAPS) to train you up to be a solo skydiver. This involves a day of training, both hands on and theory followed by your first solo jump from 3,200ft! RAPS courses start with a static line parachute deployment technique, which means your parachute deploys as you leave the aircraft. All you need to do is jump (and of course land afterwards, but don’t worry that’s what the training is for!). Following this as you begin to progress, you will go through "Dummy Pulls" where you practice deploying the parachute, but still while on the static line system. After 3 successful DPs, you will do your first official skydive by deploying your parachute yourself!

Progression after this involves jumping at increasing altitude and thus increasing freefall time (3 seconds, 5, 10, 15, 20 and finally 60!). Along the way you will learn how to do turns, tracking and even backflips. This will give you your skydiving license, which works all over the world! You will hear us say there’s no better time to learn how to skydive, and we really mean it!

Indoor skydiving

If you don’t feel you can commit to jumping out of a plane - we have a solution for you! We regularly undergo visits to the We Are Vertigo Indoor Skydiving tunnel located at Titanic park site. This involves flying on a strong stream of air in a vertical wind tunnel. This brings the social side to the club as we can meet up, do some indoor skydiving and have fun even if the weather isn't great!

Tandem skydiving

If you feel that a solo skydive is not for you but you would still love to experience free fall there is the option of a tandem skydive- connected to an instructor via a harness. The instructor guides you through the whole jump from exit through freefall, piloting the canopy and landing.

This sport is vast and theres something for everyone, so why not give it a go! Feel free to contact us via our facebook page or send us an email and ask for more details and we would be happy to help. Hope to hear from you soon!
