Improving safety for female, non-binary, and trans students; accommodating disabled students during return to in-person learning; promoting policies regarding harassment; support structures for GB and International students; updating of support systems for LGBTQIA+ students; spotlight of work from minority advocacy groups.

Disabled Students:

Improvement of recording technology for lectures.

Greater access to lecture scripts/transcripts outside of recordings.

Advocacy for recording of tutorials.

 

Gendered violence:

Student-led initiatives to improve safety in campus and surrounding areas (e.g. Holylands, Botanic, Stranmillis).

Awareness and work with SOS Bus, Nexus NI, and the Rowan Centre for victims of sexual assault.

 

Discrimination:

Work with anti-harassment advisors within university to encourage students to call out discrimination and come forward if they are victimized.

Make LGTBQIA+ training workshops for staff mandatory.

 

Spotlight on advocacy groups:

Continued support and celebration for the work of Queen’s groups championing diversity, such as QUB Feminist & Equality Society, QUB Inclusion, Project Choice QUBSU, and QUB Pride Society.

 

LGBTQIA+ students:

Updating of the QUB documents aimed at guiding trans students through transition processes.

Events with charities such as The Rainbow Project and Cara-Friend to increase awareness and celebration of LGBTQIA+ community.

Ensure staff awareness and acceptance of university’s LGBTQIA+ policies and practices.

 

GB and International Students:

Advocacy for lowering of requirements for GB Scholarship.

Continued weekend events for GB and International students (both in-person and online) to foster community and cohesion
