As a young person with disabilities, it would be a real privilege to be the voice of disabled students in the university and If elected, I will:
-Stand up for all disabled students and be there to support those in need of help or advice, both offering my support and signposting/working with external agencies/partners if necessary.
-Raise awareness of the issues that students with visible and invisible disabilities face to the Student Union Council, Executive Management Committee and the University Authorities. (Invisible disabilities can include mental health conditions, HIV/AIDs, Diabetes, Epilepsy, Autism, Cystic Fibrosis, Dyspraxia etc.)
-Fight against and draw attention to instances of discrimination within the Student Union and the University and offer my full support and guidence to students who come forward with discrimination complaints.
-Work and liaise with internal and external organisations that are relevant to disabled students or are looking to collaborate to fight for disabled rights.
-Work to ensure that the University and student union keep disability access to the forefront of there thoughts when planning events and encourage greater involvement of disabled students in Union affairs.
-Campaign on key issues relevent to Disabled Students.
