I want to be the school of medicine, dentistry and biomedical sciences’ representative as I believe that our courses are already very demanding but with a few changes and improvements we can improve our student experience.
Through networking, I have connected with various students across the different courses and based on their concerns I aim to lobby for the following when I am successful:
- A change to the QR code system for international students
- Subsidizing scrubs prices
- Discussion regarding the utility of progress testing for second years
- Mitigation of disruption caused by last minute changes to the curriculum
- Clearer communication
- Increased transparency re hidden costs
- A discussion regarding tuition fees
I believe I am the right candidate for this role as I have a passion for advocacy evident from my experiences:
- Last year I was the International Students’ Officer for the SU for which I received the SU President’s Award for my activism and engagement
- I was head girl at my school for which I received a nationwide award for my leadership
- I received a gold medal for being one of the top 50 debaters in the country (UAE)
- I was a student ambassador for 4 years in my school
