Manifesto: A Strong Student Council for a Better Tomorrow

In my past two years as an undergraduate student at Queen's, I have had experience in a variety of roles, and my manifesto reflects the needs of the student body based on my experiences, as well as the varied perspectives of the brilliant people I have interacted with over these years. As a candidate for the Queen's Student Council, I envision a future where our student community thrives on inclusivity, support, and a commitment to positive change. If elected, I will champion several key priorities that align with the values and aspirations of our student body:

1. Greater Financial and Housing Support: I am fully aware of the financial challenges that many students face. To address this, I pledge to tirelessly advocate for enhanced financial assistance, scholarships, and bursaries that will alleviate the financial burdens placed on our students. Furthermore, I will work diligently to improve housing options, affordability, and transparency, ensuring that every student can access suitable accommodation without compromising their financial stability.

2. Mental Health Awareness and Support: Mental health is a paramount concern for our community. I am committed to elevating mental health awareness, reducing stigma, and advocating for accessible and effective mental health support services. No student should struggle in silence, and I will work to ensure that comprehensive mental health resources are readily available to every student in need.

3. Environmental Initiatives: Sustainability is at the heart of our future. I will lead efforts to promote environment-friendly practices and sustainable initiatives within our campus. By reducing our environmental footprint and embracing environmentally responsible practices, we can contribute to a greener, more sustainable community that prepares students for a future conscious of ecological challenges.

4. Anti-Racism: Our campus must be a safe, inclusive, and anti-racist space for all. I am deeply committed to this cause and will actively support and engage in campaigns and initiatives aimed at eradicating racism in all its forms. Through education, awareness, and solidarity, we can work together to create an environment where every student feels valued and respected, regardless of their background or ethnicity.

5. Clubs and Societies Support: Our clubs and societies are the lifeblood of our vibrant campus culture. I will dedicate myself to ensuring they receive the recognition and support they deserve. By providing these student groups with the necessary resources, guidance, and advocacy, we can foster a thriving community of extracurricular activities that enrich the student experience.

With your trust and support, I will be a dedicated advocate for these priorities, tirelessly working to enhance our student experience and make our university community a place where every student can thrive, grow, and contribute positively to our shared journey of higher education.
