Utilising the momentum gained from previously acting as School Rep (2019); PG Rep (2021+2022); and UUSU's Part-Time/Distance Learner Councillor (2021-2023), I will continue to advocate for positive CHANGE to ensure EVERY Distance Learner is offered ADDED VALUE during and after graduation. This means I will continue to utilise well-established connections made across QUB, QUBSU, UU and UUSU, allowing me to fight for our collective concerns: IMPROVE how our ‘Student Voice’’ is valued; IMPROVE communication across the University; BETTER representation; and POSITIVE changes for ALL.

 

Proven Track Record

IMPROVED: DL programmes have been improved because of my input
ACHIEVED: Most Course Leaders now appreciate deadline ‘flexibility’
SUCCESS: The SMT now understand that Distance Learners have a ‘Student Voice’
POLICE CHANGE: Distance Learners are now more embedded within Policy terminology
ADVOCATE: Distance Learners are better valued during Senate meetings
 

Aims for 2023-2024

-     STOP the Jargon & Spin     -     BETTER access for ALL Students     -
-     Distance Learners MUST be VALUED by the SMT    -
-     Assessments must ADD value AFTER Graduation     -
-     Implement EFFECTIVE changes to EVERY Distance Learning courses     -
 

MAIN GOALS 2023-2024

BETTER access to healthier food, i.e., later access on weekdays & access at weekends
ENCOURAGE better INCLUSION for Distance Learners at Clubs/Socs events
IMPROVED RESPECT for learning schedules for those on Distance Learner courses
BETTER representation across LGBT, International Students & “minority” groups
IMPROVED communication between Schools and Distance Learner programmes
IMPROVE how Distance Learners are valued across the University
ADVOCATE for Deadline “flexibility” for ALL Distance Learners
ADVOCATE for POSITIVE changes during Senate meetings
Continue to implement STRONG terminology within QUBSU Policy
Host talks and open discussions with core members of staff
Run activities for Distance Learners and support during Green Week
