Who am I?
My name is Vladimir Videnov and this is my fourth year studying at Queen's. Originally from Sofia, Bulgaria, I moved to Belfast in 2020 for education purposes. Having recently completed my BSc in Environmental Management, I moved into the EPS faculty to pursue an MSc in Environmental Engineering.
Throughout my time volunteering, working, and overall interacting with students and staff from multiple faculties at Queen's, I've made note of the lower involvement and consideration of postgrad students in decision-making, as well as various unique to postgraduate students issues that need to be dealt with.
As a postgraduate and international student myself, I understand the difficulties involved in transitioning into a new degree, a new faculty, and a new environment, as well as how to tackle these issues head-on.
What are you voting for?
As your faculty representative, these are some of the goals I will be working towards:
- Accessibility: Betterment of the clarity of the information and resources available for postgrads in all six schools within EPS.
- Comfort: Provision of reasonable accommodations for new students (International students, students new to Queen's/ the faculty) to ensure a smooth transition and quick acclimatization into their new environment.
- Voice: Development of clearer communication channels for postgraduate students to express their opinions and concerns, as well as inspiring postgraduates to get more involved, both within and outside the EPS faculty.
- Intent: Resolution of said concerns and serious, critical consideration of any presented student matters.
- Connection: Creation of a more connected and engaged block of postgraduates within the EPS, by enabling better networking of students via means such as postgrad-focused events.
Postgraduates deserve a strong, determined representative who will fight to make their opinions known. If you want to see all of the aforementioned goals accomplished, as well as many more, vote for me as your Faculty Rep. Get involved and have your voice heard!
