I am Ethan/Eli and I am a third-level Irish and History student. I believe in empowering under-represented students on a university scale to fight to be heard. I have fought for LGBTQIA+ students on and off campus and if elected I will continue to platform these, and other marginalised groups.
During my time at Queens I have advocated for Queer students on a campus wide scale, platforming Trans and Non-binary recognition and rights on campus and beyond. Trans and Non-Binary people have experienced threat and hatred all over the world, and it is our responsibility to ensure that they are safe and feel welcomed at Queens. I have also pushed for a fairer enviroment for students who feel like they are being exploited, I have helped give students a chance to have their voice heard within the university and campaigning for a refferendum for students to take back their university.
If elected to Student council I will:
1.) Campaign for students who feel powerless to fight back against a university they feel that takes advantage of them.
2.) Platform Queer and Non-Binary rights on a university scale, advocating for awareness and a push towards a more inclusive university experience.
3.) Increase the accountability of the university for actions that directly impact students mental health
4.) Push for more and better housing for students in a climate where many are taken advantage of by their landlords.
5.) Support plans for a greener QUB and against the continued destruction of the enviroment.
