Ensuring QUB's Mental Health Strategy is fully implemented, funded and suits the needs of ALL students.

Mental health is a universal issue that binds us together for a common cause.  As a representative of the Student Council, I won't get bogged down in politics or infighting- I'll focus on the issues that really matter, chiefly the delivery of Queen's Mental Health Strategy.

Why am I a good fit for this role:

Co-founder of Pure Mental NI, the 1st entirely youth-led mental health charity in the UK, at the age of 17, alongside Jay Buntin:

-Have experience in delivering, shaping and implementing mental health policy with past projects including the pilot of primary school counselling and advising the Committee for Education on the return to face-to-face teaching.

-Experience in the designing of Early Interventative & Curriculum- Pure Mental is the organisation currently creating a mental health curriculum for primary and secondary schools- with the programme set to be rolled out to 100s of schools, beginning this year.

-Campaigning experience- Pure Mental's 4 Manifesto Policies have been incorporated into the manifestos of 4 of the 5 main political parties in Northern Ireland for the upcoming election, with the fifth being scheduled shortly.

-Previous user of Counselling services, with lived experience of mental ill-health.

Additionally:

-Northern Ireland Delegate for 'One Young world' Conference in Tokyo 2022, which seeks to raise human rights issues at an international level and promote youth leadership and peacebuilding, through public speaking, debating and conferences.

With my experience in mental health campaigning, policy and programme building- I hope to offer a guiding hand for other student reps in the devlopment of the University's mental health strategy.
