Fighting for Accessible and Affordable Education
Hi, I'm Ryan and I am a computer science student, currently on placement. I am running to be an EPS Representative on the Student Council because I have experienced the issues that students have been facing and I can use my experience to make a difference to our education.
I have been a course rep and was able to use student feedback to improve our modules and provide lecturers with the information they need to tailor the course to the needs of the students. This experience makes me an ideal candidate for this position as it helped me to develop many important skills, such as leadership, communication, time management, and problem solving.
If elected, I will continue to listen to students and use this feedback to help the student's union to focus on the important issues that students are facing.
One of the main issues that I will be focusing on is lecture recordings. I believe recording lectures is important for making the lecture material more accessible to students and have heard from students that some courses aren't providing recordings.
I also believe that education is a human right and should be free and accessible to all. Free education provides people with more opportunities to learn and grow which can only benefit society. This is why I will ensure the students union prioritizes the Students United Against Fees campaign.
