Better Communication. Better Representation.

Hello There! My name is Thomas Thorpe. I am a second-year Music and Audio Production Major from Bradford, England. I came to QUB to develop my passion and skills of Music whilst also placing myself in a diverse community that has a lot of expandable opportunity.

Due to COVID-19, the last academic year proved difficult for all students, we faced a year of virtual learning and struggled with communication between faculty and students in all forms. Now that the world is returning to normality, I feel like I am a worthy candidate to rebuild those weakened bridges and prevent past issues as your Arts, English and Languages School Rep.

I would like to layout a three point plan which would become the stepping stones for a bright and exciting future within our School.

1 - As 'Normality' returns I aim to one, recuperate the Student to Faculty member bond and two, aim for the faculty and myself to be as active as possible in order to fit or bring up any needs/issues, whether that be in a meeting where new ideas for AEL are brought up or in a one-to-one situation. I aim to be more than a just a name you vote for on an online form and instead create positive change.

2 - I plan to bridge the gap between all students and turn our school into a well-knitted community. I intend on doing this through a mixture of social events and online communication with social media and the QUBSU website. This would keep all students updated on any situations or events throughout the year!

3 - Just like the hopefully achieved interpersonal relationships between each subdivision of AEL, I aim to expand the local community around the University. QUB students are uniquely positioned in regards to a vast array of opportunities on their doorstep: studios, local production companies, theatres as well as reaching out to international schools for the language students, local newspapers and small broadcasting companies.

If you read this and you have any queries or suggestions feel free to contact me at: Tthorpe01@qub.ac.uk

I hope whoever you vote for you will feel content with, regardless of the outcome I will still be active in our local Queens community.

Better Representation. Better Communication.
