Who am I
My name is Elliott Bissell and I’m running to be your representative. I’m a recently turned 24 year-old from Yorkshire in his first year of a Civil Engineering MEng course with a drive to help those around me succeed. 2 ½ years ago I decided to do a 180 in life and start my journey into independent learning, to get myself into Queen’s Belfast University, with no teachers and no help I strove to make the most of it and my efforts paid off.
Why I want to be your Rep Student
Life can be a bit daunting for those fresh out of school. You step out of the comfort of the peers that you know, far away from home for some of you, into a space where you have an unfathomable amount of freedom. Now freedom in this case is a double-edged sword, you’ve no more curfew, no more parents asking you to do chores, you can do pretty much what you want as and when you want it. But with that you lose a lot of the guidance you’ve grown accustomed too and it can be a struggle for some. I’ve been through all that already and I can honestly say it wasn’t easy, so I want to help as many of you as I can have a smooth a transition as possible, to help you be as comfortable as possible so you can achieve the best you can.
What I can do for You
I will work hard to be your advocate, your champion and your voice however that may be. I will listen to any concerns that are brought up to me and I will bring them up and fight for them. This goes for points I may not necessarily agree with, I'm not here to dictate how you should think or feel, I will be here to be an unbiased channel for your ideas and worries. I will keep any who come to me up to date with how whatever they have voiced to me is progressing. I’m aware of all the unfortunate stress that the opportunity university brings, and I will do what I can to reduce that.
