QUB STAR are a grassroots, student-led activist group dedicated to campaigning for the rights of ALL displaced people both locally and globally.

Campaigning and advocating
Activism is the foundation of our society. In the past we have marched in support of many campaigns which advocate for the rights of refugees and asylum seekers. We have also successfully campaigned for the introduction of asylum seeker scholarships at QUB, which are available from September 2017

This year we will continue to be active in the fight against social injustice and plan to focus our campaign on the issue of detention in Northern Ireland.

Educating
We believe it is important to be educated about the issues we are campaigning on and so throughout the year will be organising talks from activists and academics and we will also be attending and hosting film screenings.

Volunteering
We facilitate volunteering opportunities for our members and put them in contact with other organisations in Belfast who have a need for volunteers including Larne House Visitors Group, HAPANI, and Homeplus amongst others.

Socialising
Last but not least, we also get together socially as a community of likeminded individuals for pints, pizza, and craic on a regular basis. The students union bar is our usual haunt, the QUBSU supports and represents all students and we know that when we buy a drink in the bar we are in return showing support for OUR union
