Bem-vindos! ¡Bienvenidos! Learn what the Spanish and Portuguese society is about, meet our committee, and get involved!

About Us

As a student led languages' society, our aim is to share our passion for Spanish and Portuguese and to bring students together by celebrating Hispanic and Lusophone cultures around the world.

We’re an all-inclusive society that encourages members from all backgrounds. Many first year students join our society and find it a great way to meet new people with similar interests and passions. However, you don’t even need to study Spanish or Portuguese to be a member, just an open mind and a love for raggaeton music ;)

Every year we hold a variety of events, from our Intercambios and food-tasting nights to Carnaval and the Modern Languages Formal. We’ll also keep you up to date on any related events taking place on campus, such as film nights at the Queen’s Film Theatre.

We’re very proud of our community and aim to work with local businesses that promote Hispanic and Lusophone cultures to further enrich your time here at Queen’s and in Belfast.

Of course, things might be a little different this year, but we’re working hard to provide you with the same quality of events so we can all stay connected!

Don’t forget to follow us on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter!

Get Involved!

After almost two difficult years, we can finally meet you in person!

To become a member, please don’t hesitate to come over to our stall at this year’s Freshers’ Fair in the Whitla Hall on campus. You can find us there on Tuesday the 28th September between 10am and 5pm.

Membership is just 3 pounds and once a member, future entry to events like formal will be discounted for you. We will be happy to answer any questions you may have.

If you can’t make it to freshers’ fair, you can join us and become a member at our first ‘Tinto and Tapas’ event. (date to be confirmed, follow our social media for more information).
