About

Want to Join Sailing?

With our new boats purchased in 2018, we are now able to bring sailing to all students. Whether you are a complete beginner, advanced racer or just a socialite, we have a place for you in our club.

Training

We run all our training sessions from Ballyholme Yacht Club, training twice a week on Wednesday and Saturday. Our Wednesday sessions run from 2pm till sunset during term time. Our Saturday Advanced sessions run from 9am - 12:30pm and our beginners session runs from 1pm - 3pm. This begins with our Try Sailing day, head over to the events tab to hear more about it!

For those who don't have their own mode of transport we recommend getting the train to Bangor where someone will collect you from the station. Don't worry if you've never sailed before as there is no prior sailing experience required!

Socials and Events!

We organise a social event each week that helps the team bond and allows new members to get to know everyone off the water. Past socials include nights out, pub crawls, themed socials, dinners, mystery bus tours and much more!

Each year as a club we attend at least 5 events across Ireland and the UK. These include the 4 main events hosted by IUSA, and the Glasgow Grouse. These events include competitive sailing with Universities all over Ireland and the UK, themed socials, formals, ceilidhs and much more. On top that we host our own Christmas Regatta each year open to all members of the club along with a Christmas Dinner to finish off the year!

Summer Sail Week!

Each year as a club we organise a holiday abroad to round up the year with a bang. This is a week long holiday on a yacht, island hopping in the sun, partying and relaxing! During the day you’ll sail to a new location where you’ll stay for the night. As you sail during the day you get to explore caves and hidden coves, swim in the turquoise ocean or just float about with a beer. Once you make it to your new destination you get to explore it, grab some food, and relax! After that, we head out to the nightclubs, beach bars and pubs! I’m the past we’ve gone to Croatia and this year we’re heading to Greece!

Try Sailing Day

Each year soon after our freshers fair we host our Try Sailing Day. This is the perfect way to introduce newcomers to the sport and give people the chance to see if the club is for them. Make sure to visit us at The Freshers Fair to sign up for our Try Sail Day!
