Welcome to the Queen’s University Belfast's LGBTQIA+ Society! (QUB LGBTQIA+)
The LGBTQIA+ Society seeks to bring to celebrate and bring community, visibility and appreciation for gender identity and sexual and romantic orientation diversity at Queens. We provide a private and confidential forum for members to be themselves and get to know people who have gone through similar experiences, working towards making members feel welcome and included in the university
We try to create a safe, open space for those identifying as LGBTQIA+ and those who support us with inclusive social events throughout the year.
We also aim to help combat prejudice by offering workshops and panels on LGBTQIA+ themes, hoping to bring awareness both within the community and to the greater Queen's student body. We aim to promote tolerance, acceptance and understanding of all sexualities and gender identities with a view to ending the discrimination faced by, and faced within, the LGBTQIA+ community
We play a role in advocating from our often vulnerable demographic and work closely with the SU, and the Diversity and Equality Officer in particular, surrounding issues regarding student experience and safety. We offer signposting for any student with queries about charities and organisations that can support them.
Keen on joining the LGBTQIA+ Society, coming along to our events, or just finding out more? Sign up to our mailing list here and we'll be in touch!
