QUBLBC allows students to ‘test the waters’ of the lagan in a rowing boat. We welcome fresher students with absolutely no experience to try rowing at the Queen’s Sport Boathouse (Lockview road) every Wednesday and Saturday to learn the basics of rowing and coxing in an 8+ boat. However, we are keen to recruit any students with previous rowing or coxing experience to join current QUBLBC rowers on the intermediate squad.

Much of the training we do takes place at our boathouse. However, most land-based training we do such as indoor rowing, circuits and strength & conditioning takes place at the PEC. As you gain more experience, you will have the opportunity to compete locally and across the water throughout season. We also hold many social events and fundraisers throughout the year, such as the annual ladies dinner around Christmas time. Training camps are also held. Last Easter, the squad took off to Banyoles for a week in preparation for BUCs regatta, Europe’s largest student regatta.

Whether you would like to join us to row competitively or recreationally, we would strongly encourage anyone with experience or not to come down and row with us.
