About

Hey everyone!

We are SpeedQUBers and we're the first society on the island for speedcubers!

What is speedcubing? Speedcubing is the 'sport' of solving Rubiks Cubes, and other puzzles, as fast as possible, while competing against other people.

What do we do? We meetup weekly to practice, set times, get advise from other members and, most importantly, compete in the UK Cubing League against other universities!

What is the UKCL? The UK Cubing League is an Intervarsity league where each week universities compete against each other in all WCA events to set the fastest times, points are then calculated from the times set and are put towards a league. This year (23/24) we finished 7th out of 13, which was our debut year, which means we qualified for the playoffs!

I don't know how to speedcube, but I want to learn! Amazing, come to one of our weekly meetups and join our Discord server (shown below) and we can provide you with the resources and advise to be a great speedcuber!

Why bother practicing? The main reason why speedcubers do what they do is the WCA. The WCA, World Cube Association, organises weekly tournaments in every country in the world. In these tournaments you can pick whichever events/puzzles you wish to participate in, and compete against other speedcubers. With this, you will get your own profile on the WCA website where you can track your progress and times set in competitions!

How do I join? Communication is mostly made through our Discord server, https://discord.gg/g7MXkawJJK, so join there and get your roles, you'll soon see information on how to join. We also have an instagram page, @speedqubers, where you can track our team's progress in the UKCL.

Happy cubing!
